To Blog or Not to Blog, That is the Question

The path to Beau’s happy place

I’ve recently been doing some mulling over in my mind as to whether or not I will continue writing  this blog much longer. I’m finding it harder and harder to motivate myself to do so since our lifestyle has been leaving me so uninspired lately. When we first ventured out on the road everything was so new. We were visiting new places, exploring new sights, trying new restaurants, etc. As of late though, I feel our lives have become pretty mundane. Except for the fact that we periodically move our home on wheels to a different town or state, we’re not living any differently now than we did when we lived in a stick and brick abode. I can’t for the life of me imagine anyone cares to hear (again), where we dined, with whom, who we’ve seen perform, what beach we’ve visited, or any of the other daily minutiae of our lives. Maybe after nearly ten years of writing posts, four years at this site and six on blogspot, it’s time to just take a little break. So I will just leave this here, step away, and try to decide which direction I’ll choose to take. Until then, here’s looking at you kid…….

  1. Your blog was one of the first ones I started following and I have to say I’ve looked forward to each one. We just sold our house Nov 20 and have started the full-time life. Much of that has been due to the RV blogs, like yours, that I have followed for the past 4.5 years. So much of what you and others write is what has encouraged us to choose this path at this time in our life. I was glad to see in one of the comments above that you plan to continue to blog although with less posts. Thanks for sharing your adventures, thoughts, and day to day life.

    • Thank you so much for your kind words. I have received so much encouragement from readers of my posts that I have decided to continue doing it but to a lesser degree. I too read many blogs while I dreamed of pursuing this lifestyle. They were a wealth of information for me. I still do read them, just not as many. I hope you find full timing to be adventurous & full filling. Maybe our paths will cross one day.

  2. There are times when I think what we have been doing is just not interesting enough But then we get comments from friends and family that they miss our posts regardless of what we are doing.

  3. Gay

I feel the same way especially when we are in Moab. I’ve posted all that many times. But I do enjoy traveling and visiting new places and it’s fun to write about those. Joe always says the difference in a rut and a grave is the dept of the hole. It’s a big, beautiful country to explore. I know Don loves the beach, but maybe some different routes along the way to explore some of the west…it’s amazing & have you checked out the beaches in SoCal…stunning! I enjoy your posts! Love the pictures of Beau in his happy place!

    • Thanks for the encouragement Gay. I do try to take a new route periodically between our winter destination & our trip north to see our children. Last Spring we spent time in New Orleans & Memphis on our way home. I’d love to get out west but I’m at the mercy of my parents health issues for the time being. I also lack faith in our Ford truck, seems every 6 months it’s back in the shop. We’ve considered replacing it but it’s hard to pull the trigger when it has low mileage & it’s paid for. Don keeps reminding me that we’re still young (60, 62) & we’ve plenty of time to see country west of the Mississippi yet. I sure hope he’s right.

  4. I totally understand…there are times when I really have to force myself to sit and write…I love it when I get started but when it becomes a chore then it’s time to let it go…we are sitting still for the next few months and I’m also contemplating what to write about and if anyone really cares!!
It has been wonderful reading your blog and getting to know you and your family…enjoy your break!!

    • I knew I couldn’t be the only blogger who has had this dilemma. I do enjoy reading your posts Sue & have especially liked reading about your Canadian travels & Maine moose hunting this past year. (I’ve taken notes don’t you know.) Perhaps a rest is all I really need too.
