Don & I have been getting in a lot of family time this Summer. Although we have been enjoying every moment of our time spent with our children and grandchildren, it has been difficult staving off the hitch itch we both are feeling after having sat for 3 months. One thing is for certain, we’re not cut out for snowbirding, at least not yet.
We been filling our days with babysitting, dog sitting, and entertaining the family with campfires and campground activities. We’ve celebrated family birthdays, including Tucker’s 9th, and also attended a surprise 60th birthday party for one of our dearest friends. We’ve had our daughter and granddaughter from Michigan drive down to spend a week with us and I drove up to northern Michigan with my mother in tow to attend the wedding of my cousin Carol. And in between all of this, we’ve been dealing with heat, oppressive humidity, tornado watches, flood warnings, and torrential downpours.
With plans to stay yet another month and a half, we hope to get in a few day trips and visits with friends who are in the vicinity. Don had hoped to spend some of his days on Lake Monroe fishing but casting has proven to be too arduous on his shoulder. I believe he will be seeing an orthopedic surgeon for an assessment on it once we are firmly entrenched back in North Fort Myers again this Winter. He has had two surgeries on it previously.
So, in a nut shell, this is how we’ve been filling our days. Until my next post…..
here’s lookin’ at you kid.
