We’ve Settled Into a Routine……for the time being

Living a life of leisure isn’t very conducive to writing a travel blog.

Sunrise. Morning walk.

Sunrise. Morning walk.

Our typical day starts early. Because of the heat & high humidity we make it a point to be up & out the door ready to walk by 6:30, 7 am at the latest. Although we only walk a scant 2 1/2 miles, we return to the Suite Pea drenched in sweat. We follow that up with breakfast & a refreshing, cool shower.

There are 3 gators in the pond by the campground. We see them regularly on our walks.

Another encounter on our morning walk was a Cottonmouth.

It’s during this time we hash over what we shall do with our day. With Don the answer to that question more often than not is to head for the beaches of Sanibel. We’ve become enmeshed in activities at Seminole as well. Don has enjoyed being part of a golf foursome & we have a small group that we play Euchre with regularly. Susan has introduced me to shopping at Beall’s Department Store & Outlet. And all the other park activities I’ve mentioned in previous posts. Tonight’s was the chili cook-off followed by a band, dancing, imbibing & a campfire.

Don's become quite adept at making the perfect Pina Colada.

We both are having a good time at Seminole Campground. Don, so much so, that he’d like to return for the 2014/2015 Winter season. If we were “just” Indiana Snowbirds I could easily agree to that BUT I’ve learned I have a restless spirit & just like the rolling stone that gathers no moss, I have the urge to visit someplace new next season.  Since a good partnership is about compromise, I have conceded to wintering in Florida again in 2014, perhaps the eastern side next.

All in all, no matter what we choose to do with our day, we ultimately end it with another walk after the evening meal. The goal is to get 10,000 steps on my pedometer by days end.

  1. Those piña colada sure look refreshing! And I like Don’s new look! But the cottonmouth, gives me the hibbie-jibbies! Our biggest pup (Wrecks) was bitten by what we call a water moccasin and I think they are the same snake. He was in intensive care at Auburn University for a week and it took 2 doses of anti-venom. He was bitten on his tongue which he lost pieces of from decay….so just be careful! And watch Tucker!
There’s lots to do out west if you can talk Don into it! And NO humidity or mosquitoes!

    • Gay that’s horrible news. Wrecks must have been traumatized & I can only imagine how panicked you & Joe must have been. I’m glad Wrecks is better now. I don’t remember reading about this on your blog, did I miss it? We do try to keep a watchful eye when we walk but Tucker does like to investigate those high weeds. It isn’t always easy. I am anxious to get out west, especially AZ. It’s hard to drag Don away from the ocean. We agreed to one more Winter in FL then we’ll begin our western tour. I’m holding him to it. I look forward to no humidity or mosquitoes.
