We got the call Wednesday night; our Winegard TV satellite was in. Tiara RV wanted us to be at their shop when they opened Thursday morning to have the unit reinstalled.
Up at 6 AM, bright eyed & bushy tailed as the saying goes. Break camp. Travel 30 miles to Elkhart. Satellite installed. 3 hours later, drive back to Howe. Establish camp again. Whew! Glad that’s done. Now maybe we can just enjoy the area for awhile without constantly being on the move for one repair or another.
In the evening we headed over to the town of Bristol where we met up with friends for dinner at the new BBQ restaurant in town, Danny K’s Smokehouse. Most of us ordered the special of the day, 1/2 smoked chicken. The food was good but the camaraderie was even better. It had been last summer since we spent time with David & Joyce McCreary & Pat & Polly Miller. It was good to catch up.
We met the 4 of them when we attended our first Escapee Escapade in August 2010 & decided to join the Indiana Chapter of Escapees. Our friendship has grown over the past couple of years from attending rallies together or just visiting while passing through the area. Neither the McCrearys nor the Millers are full timers like us but they do snowbird each winter in Yuma, Arizona. Escapees is a wonderful organization for people who enjoy camping & RVing. We have received a wealth of information & support from the club & I highly recommend membership in it. Anyone interested can check it out at
Don, Pat & David have made plans to golf 18 holes next Thursday. It will be Don’s first time golfing since his knee replacement. And, Polly, Joyce & I are going to shop of course. We are going to be in Nappanee after all.
Here’s lookin’ at you kid………………………
