Ternes girls gone wild!                                Don with plant manager, Ron Sauer

The actual date is May 1st but with the unexpected way that things have of playing out, Friday was Don’s last day of pencil pushing.

Originally Don thought he’d still be going to the daily grind until March 22, then use his remaining vacation days until THE MAGICAL DATE. Unfortunately, his chronic knee problem reared its ugly head again. This time it’s a total knee replacement he’s needing. Surgery is Monday morning. 8 weeks of rehab will follow & that’ll take us right into Don’s vacation time.

Lisa, she was kind enough to take the photos for today’s blog

So, Don’s coworkers decided yesterday was best to host a retirement luncheon in his honor. And what a spread they put on!

Meat & cheese trays, fried chicken, & every side & salad you could think of, not to mention all of the delectable deserts & the retirement cake.

The camaraderie was wonderful. A few had worked with Don the entire 39 yrs. 4 mos. he’d been employed with Allison Transmission. Several had become more than coworkers over the years. Don was humbled by all the good wishes, hugs, & handshakes.

Tom, Joe & Mike— The “Michigan Crew”, only a few are left

Much to everyone’s amusement,  Teresa Lohmon, who organized the gathering, dug up Don’s original time card photo back from when he was fresh out of high school & still wet behind the ears. It gave us all a good laugh.

After much reminiscing of old times & people past, Don called it a career at the PDC.

Congrats to you Don!! Thanks for all the wisdom and knowledge you passed onto me over the last 6 years. The information you passed about the “the job” itself and what screens to look at on the computer were needed however the other details about how to be a good boss and handle certain issues is what I truely appreciated. Thanks again and best wishes to you both. Neal
